OUR RESULTS

At Celeste, we are dedicated to empowering companies with the knowledge and tools to identify and address climate and water-related risks within their supply chains. By leveraging our expertise, we enable businesses to pinpoint key suppliers vulnerable to environmental challenges, facilitating more effective communication and data-sharing practices.

Our platform allows for the exchange of comprehensive water data—including utilities, meters, and financial information—through easily shareable profiles that enhance transparency and cooperation across the supply chain. Furthermore, Celeste fosters a collaborative environment where members can establish collective objectives, exchange strategies for achieving water reduction targets, co-invest in sustainable initiatives, and implement robust measures for mitigating and preempting risks. Below are the benefits of sustainable procurement, particularly in regard to collective water stewardship.

OUR PRODUCT REASONING

At its core, the water crisis is a resource management problem. Current solutions are siloed across watersheds and supply chains and focus too much on hardware supply solutions. We seek to build a platform that facilitates and scales collective governance. Besides, with increased supply chain disruption due to climate change, solutions that build resilience and communication are critical.

Lack of awareness of water's interconnectedness:

Water systems are part of intricate biological and physical networks. Despite this, the ways in which water interacts with land, climate, energy, and human activities are often not fully grasped by those making decisions.

Nexus of water and other key climate topics:

Our aim is to inform companies about the ripple effects their water-related decisions have on their energy use, carbon emissions, biodiversity measures, and social commitments.

Siloed management of water,

a resource that naturally transcends borders, leads to disjointed and uncoordinated efforts. This complicates addressing complex water-related challenges such as pollution, competing uses, and disaster management.

Collaborative management of resource and risk:

We aim to illustrate how the decisions of one company can impact other businesses, local communities, and natural habitats. We believe in eradicating silos in water stewardship and risk management across the SC.

Hardware short-sightedness: Traditional approaches to water issues focus on increasing supply through tech like pumps and deslination plants. However, building infrastructure fails to address underlying issues of poor governance and planning.

Data-driven collaboration platform:

The Celeste team focuses on enhancing resource management through shared information, planning, and risk assessment, rather than creating new water sources, addressing both supply and usage.

Reactive approaches to risk:

As supply chain disruption becomes the new norm, companies can decide to "turn off the fires" that arise as they come up. In supply chains, this response makes it costlier in terms of time, money, and customer satisfaction.

Proactive supply chain resilience: COVID-19 highlighted the vulnerability of supply chains to disruptions. With ongoing climate change threats, our goal is to help companies strengthen supplier relationships to better withstand future shocks.
